News Hesse Novel Basis of Sidd, New Musical at Dodger Stages Siddhartha, the philisophical novel by Herman Hesse, is the unlikely inspiration of Sidd, a new musical to begin previews Feb. 23 at Dodger Stages.

The show has music and lyrics by Doug Silver and direction, book and additional lyrics by Andrew Frank. It will open on March 22. The cast includes Neil Maffin (Entertaining Mr. Sloan, The Sum of Us) in the title role, Marie-France Arcilla, Dann Fink, Pamela Jordan, Nicole Lewis, Arthur Marks and Gerry McIntyre.  The production features set design by Maruti Evans, lighting design by Chris Dallos, costume design by Michael Bevins and sound design by Andrew Bellware.

The story follows the travails of a young man as he journeys from his small hometown to the big city and eventually an encounter with Buddha. The production features an onstage band.
