The Broadway premiere of Hillary and Clinton, a new play by Tony-nominated playwright Lucas Hnath (A Doll’s House, Part 2), opens at the John Golden Theatre April 18. Tony Award winner Joe Mantello directs Tony and Emmy winner Laurie Metcalf as Hillary, alongside fellow Tony and Emmy winner John Lithgow as Bill.

In Hillary and Clinton, which began previews March 16, the politics of marriage, gender roles, and the limitations of experience are examined. Billed as a “profound and timely look at an American dynasty in crisis,” the play offers a behind-the-scenes look at a former First Lady named Hillary's 2008 presidential campaign.

Rounding out the Broadway cast are Zak Orth as campaign manager Mark and Peter Francis James as Barack.

A Scott Rudin production, Hillary and Clinton features scenic design by Chloe Lamford, costume design by Rita Ryack, lighting design by Hugh Vanstone, and sound design by Leon Rothenberg. Casting is by Caparelliotis Casting; David L. Arsenault is associate scenic designer.

Hillary and Clinton premiered at Chicago's Victory Gardens Theater in 2016 before heading to Philadelphia, Richmond, and Dallas.
