Beginning July 8, Bard will welcome the return of the Spiegeltent, which showcases musical acts, cabaret performances, cirque, comedy and more. The seven-week engagement will run through Aug. 22. Friday and Saturday nights will also feature DJs and dancing.
Highlights include gospel singer-songwriter Our Lady J (July 9); John Kelly performing his Joni Mitchell tribute Paved Paradise: Redux (July 16-17); the Wau Wau Sisters (July 23-24); Weimar New York, an evening of music and burlesque acts emceed by Justin Bond (July 30-31); and Hoffman offering her outrageous act of music and comedy (Aug. 13).
Bard will also stage Ödön von Horváth's Judgment Day July 14–25. Irish director Caitriona McLaughlin will direct the work about the roots of Nazism within the Austria-Hungary working class. Christopher Hampton has translated the play.
