Music director Skitch Henderson and the New York Pops will perform during the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular in New York City. The performance will be the Pops' first at the annual event, which draws more than three million spectators and is broadcast nationally on NBC starting at 9 p.m. ET (check local listings).
The musical program includes patriotic songs and an excerpt from Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.
Meanwhile, the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular on July 4 will be broadcast live on CBS. The concert, conducted by Keith Lockhart, culminates in a performance of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture accompanying a display of fireworks.
CBS will carry the final hour of the concert, including 20 minutes of fireworks, without commercial interruption, starting at 10 p.m. ET (check local listings). The event marks the third time that the Pops' July 4 concert will be broadcast on network television.
