The Hollywood Bowl's upcoming ten-week Season 2000 will include two theatrical events among its varied schedule of classical and jazz music, ballet and story-telling. On Aug. 13, John Maucen will conduct the Bowl orchestra in a concert performance of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel. Guest artists are to be announced. On July 28 & 29, Marvin Hamlisch will conduct the Los Angeles Philharmonic in an evening of Broadway's Best .
The Bowl's season will open July 9 with a festival of world music running for six Sundays through Sept. 10. Flamenco, Celtic, African, blues and Brazilian music will be featured.
The Sunday Sunset performances commence July 9 with a concert performance of Puccini's Madama Butterfly. Among the series' highlights are an evening with Garrison Keillor and a Tchaikovsky spectacular.
Other Bowl attractions include Lexus Jazz at the Bowl and a Tuesday Masterworks series featuring world class singers, dancers and conductors backed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
Subscriptions for any of the Bowl's 2000 series offerings are now available, with single tickets going on sale May 14.
