Hollywood film actress Greer Garson was discovered on stage by Louis B. Mayer (the second "m" in MGM). Now she will once again grace the stage, this time as a character in Richard Willett's Random Harvest. The new play is set for a June 16-July 21 Off-Broadway run at uptown Manhattan's HomeGrown Theatre. Opening night is June 25. In Random Harvest (also the name of a 1942 film starring Garson), a up-and coming writer on the verge of making it big is tormented by a Hollywood tragedy. Amidst the disarray he finds that he is also visited by the ghost of legendary actress Greer Garson.

Eliza Beckwith reteams with Willett to direct the production. The team collaborated on Willett's earlier work Triptych two years ago. Beckwith helms the cast of Random Harvest include Patrick Welsh, Patricia Randell, Ann Talman, Jay Alvarez, Kate Downing and Jonathan Kandel.

Garson's first part in film was in "Goodbye, Mr. Chips," for which she earned an Academy Award nomination for Best actress. She later won the prize in 1942 for her portrayal in "Mrs. Miniver." She was known, in some circles, by her nickname "Career Garson" for her determination in the pursuit of roles that would further her career.

For tickets to Random Harvest, playing at the HomeGrown Theatre, 2628 Broadway (at 100th St.), call (212) 229-7500.
