New Voices Collective Stages Valentine Concert Feb. 7, with Songs by Lippa, Heisler, Thalken, Goldrich The latest American song concert by New Voices Collective in New York City will be My Funny Valentine, celebrating amour — featuring Judy McLane, Michael Winther, Kate Baldwin and more — on Feb. 7, a week before St. Valentine's Day.

The 8 PM performance in Symphony Space's intimate 170-seat Leonard Nimoy Thalia will also feature composer-lyricist Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party), Keith Byron Kirk (Parade), Dan Reichard (The Thing About Men) and Jill Geddes (Into the Woods).

McLane is currently starring in Mamma Mia! (Winther is a veteran of the show) and Baldwin was recently seen in Wonderful Town.

"The evening celebrates February’s most beloved (or notorious) holiday with world-premiere songs from today's most exciting young composers, lambasting love or honoring Eros as they see fit," according to NVC.

The songwriters represented include Andrew Lippa, Georgia Stitt, Steve Marzullo, Tom Kitt, Richard Gray, Paul Loesel, Sam Davis, David Kirshenbaum, Marc Smollin, Jeffrey Stock, JosephThalken, Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich. The evening will be hosted by Danny Burstein and is directed by Annette Jolles.

The singers will be accompanied by Grant Wenaus on piano, Clay Ruede on cello, and Ed Matthew on clarinet.

The New Voices Collective, founded by Jen Bender, Joel Fram, and Doug Okerson in 2002, provides a forum for a community of artists to develop new works and explore new directions. Their various programs includes the New Voices concerts, First-Draft Musicals readings, and the Rush Hour Chamber Music series.
