News   Horror Film Director Rob Zombie Planning Film About Groucho Marx's Last Years Groucho Marx, part of the Marx Brothers comedy team that triumphed in vaudeville and Broadway musicals before becoming film icons, lived out his twilight years under the thumb of a personal keeper. This dark latter scenario, not the bright earlier years, will be the subject of a new film to be directed by horror auteur Rob Zombie, according to Deadline Hollywood.

Zombie ("House of 1000 Corpses," "Halloween") and Miranda Bailey bought the rights to Steve Stoliar's book "Raised Eyebrows: My Years Inside Groucho's House," which recounts what it was like working alongside Groucho and Erin Fleming, who took control of Marx's personal and business life as his faculties declined. No casting or release date were reported, but the screenplay will be written by Oren Moverman.

Zombie was quoted as saying "I have been a huge Groucho Marx fan ever since I was a child and have read countless books on the comic legend, but after reading the book 'Raised Eyebrows,' a totally new perspective on Groucho’s life emerged. I immediately saw this project as Groucho’s 'Sunset Boulevard' and knew I had to bring it to the big screen. It is a sad, funny and very dark tale of one of Hollywood’s greatest stars final years."
