News   Horror Musical Film from "Saw" Director, Starring Adam Pascal, Barry Bostwick and David Hasselhoff, Premieres Today

In one of the stranger assignments in recent years, Broadway stars including Adam Pascal, Barry Bostwick, David Hasselhoff and Paul Sorvino play combatants in a new movie musical, "Alleluia! The Devil's Carnival," which depicts a campy battle between heaven and hell.

Sorvino (The Baker's Wife, That Championship Season) plays God, whose chief negotiator Pascal (Rent, Aida) tries to avert all-out war with Lucifer (played by scriptwriter Terrance Zdunich), who is determined to leave Hades, which is imagined as a carnival, and crash the Pearly Gates of Paradise.

Also featured in the cast is Barry Bostwick, who played Danny Zuko in the original Broadway Grease, but who is better known for the role of Brad in another campfest, The Rocky Horror Show on stage and film. Plus David Hasselhoff (both title characters in Jekyll & Hyde), Ted Neeley (title character in Jesus Christ Superstar), horror legend Bill Mosely and rapper Tech N9ne.

The movie has a score by Zdunich and Saar Hendelman, and is directed by another horror veteran, Darren Lynn Bousman ("Saw II," "Saw III" and "Saw IV").

After today's Aug. 11 Los Angeles premiere, the film is going to be rolled out like a rock band road-show attraction, meaning that it will be shown in select venues around the country where patrons can buy reserved seat tickets in advance. It is scheduled to tour to Dallas, New Orleans, Atlanta, Philadelphia Toroto, Chicago and three dozen other cities before returning to Los Angeles Oct. 18. The New York premiere is scheduled for Sept. 7 at the Beekman Theatre. Here is the complete itinerary.
