The summer series will kick off June 8-13 with The 39 Steps, the Hitchcock-inspired stage thriller, which was seen on Broadway and off.
Actor, comedian, musician and Playbill.com writer Seth Rudetsky will offer his one-man show, Seth’s Big Fat Broadway Show, June 13. He will also conduct a master class the afternoon prior to the evening performance.
The musical revue The Marvelous Wonderettes, which is scheduled for a June 29-July 10 run, will be followed by the world premiere of Field of Glory (July 20-31). Marking the 150th anniversary year of the Civil War, this new play by Sharon Talbot with direction by Lynne Taylor-Corbett, "explores the way a mother and son find their way home in the shadow of our Country’s greatest battle," according to press notes.
Lauren Kennedy will star in the title role of Violet, which will play the North Carolina venue Aug. 17-28. The musical "explores a young disfigured woman’s journey from North Carolina to Oklahoma to be healed."
The season will conclude Aug. 31-Sept. 1 with the concert event Oh, What a Night! Broadway actors — and married couple — Lauren Kennedy (Spamalot, Les Misérables, Sunset Boulevard) and Alan Campbell (Sunset Boulevard, Contact) are the producing artistic director and managing director, respectively, of the series.
All performances run Wednesday-Saturday at 8 PM. Sunday matinees are at 3 PM.
Shows take place at the Kennedy Theatre inside the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh, NC.
