Classic Arts News Houston Ballet Debuts New Work Set to Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini Houston Ballet will present the world premiere of a new work by artistic director Stanton Welch tonight.
The new work is set to Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, and features stage and costume design by Welch, realized by Pat Padilla and Tom Boyd.

The evening's program also features the company premiere of Serge Lifar's Suite en Blanc, set to excerpts from Edouard Lalo's Namouna, and Christopher Bruce's Rooster, with music by the Rolling Stones.

The program will be reprised on February 26 and 27 and on March 4, 5, and 6.

Houston Ballet was founded in 1969 by Nina Popova, a former dancer with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and American Ballet Theatre. The company is the fifth largest in the United States.
