Houston's Alley Theatre has unveiled its 2018–2019 season. The lineup includes the world premiere of The Carpenter by Hand to God playwright Robert Askins, Dominique Morisseau's acclaimed Skeleton Crew, and Stephen Karam's Tony-winning play The Humans.

Kicking off the season in August will be Morisseau's drama Skeleton Crew. The play, which looks at the dynamics between a makeshift family of workers at an auto plant, is the final installment of the playwright's Detroit trilogy. After selling out its world-premiere run at Atlantic Theater's Stage 2, the Off-Broadway company transferred the show to its mainstage for an encore run. Performances will run August 31–September 30 in Houston.

In the fall, the theatre will present Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, directed by Jonathan Moscone (October 5–28), followed by A Christmas Carol – A Ghost Story of Christmas, directed by Interim Artistic Director James Black (November 16–December 30).

In the new year will be the world premiere of The Carpenter, a new play by Askins featuring mistaken identities, family secrets, accidental partner swaps, laughs, and more. The story follows the days leading up to the wedding of Dan, a self-made man from blue collar Houston. A director will be announced at a later date; performances will run January 18–February 10, 2019.

Rounding out the season will be the Texas premiere of Quack by Eliza Clark (February 8–March 10); The Humans, directed by Brandon Weinbrenner (March 1–March 24); Beth Henley's southern classic Crimes of the Heart (April 12–May 5); Nick Payne's Broadway and West End hit Constellations, directed by Leslie Swackhamer (May 3–June 2); the action-packed The Three Musketeers by Ken Ludwig, adapted from the novel by Alexandre Dumas (May 31–June 30); and Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap, directed by Black (August 10–September 2).
