News How Can Aspiring Actors Turn a Glue Stick Into a Chance to Perform for NYC Casting Agents? For the price of a 12-inch ruler, aspiring actors will have the chance to be seen by industry professionals Aug. 8 in the latest edition of Scenes and Songs for School Supplies.

Coordinated by various members of the Casting Society of America, the charity event benefits First Day NY, which works to make sure children living in NYC shelters have everything they need on their first day of school. The event will be held beginning at 11 AM at the offices of Telsey + Company, 311 W. 43rd St., New York.

Those interested should sign up for a slot to present a monologue or a 32-bar cut of a song of their choosing. The event is open to anyone who wants to participate; school supply donations in exchange for actor participation are appreciated, but not required.

Among the items requested include the following: 12-inch ruler, soft supply pouch (for pencils, pens, erasers, etc.), package of Post-It notes, box of colored pencils (not crayons), glue sticks, USB flash drives and mini-stapler and staples.
