News Hugh Jackman Breaks Broadway Cares and Shubert Organization Records Tony winner Hugh Jackman, who will return to Broadway during the 2013-14 season in the new musical Houdini, had a triumphant final week in his one-man show Hugh Jackman Back on Broadway, which played its last performance Jan. 1 at the Broadhurst Theatre.

During his final nine-performance holiday week, Jackman's solo show grossed $2,063,259, a Shubert Organization house record.

The singing actor, who will be seen in the upcoming film version of the international hit musical Les Miserables, also broke a Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS fundraising record. During his limited run, Jackman raised $1,789,580 for the organization, the most ever brought in by a one-person show.

"Hugh Jackman is amazing in his generosity of spirit, energy and talent," said BC/EFA executive director Tom Viola. "Because of these efforts, we will be able to make a significant difference for so many desperately needed service organizations that continue to struggle with decreases in government, foundation and individual support. I know for a fact that more doors will stay open, lights will stay on and lives will be saved thanks to the kindness of Hugh and his audiences."

Directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, Hugh Jackman Back on Broadway officially opened Nov. 10 following previews that began Oct. 25.

Jackman, who was seen on screen in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," earned a Tony Award for his work in the Broadway musical The Boy From Oz. He is also known for his film roles in the "X-Men" trilogy, "Someone Like You," "Swordfish," "Kate and Leopold," "Van Helsing," "The Fountain" and "Happy Feet" (in voice). His stage credits also include Trevor Nunn's staging of Oklahoma! at Britian's National Theatre and award-winning work in productions of Sunset Boulevard and Beauty and the Beast in his homeland. *
