Billed as Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway, the evening of song and dance played the Broadhurst Theatre Oct. 25, 2011-Jan. 1, 2012, for a limited Broadway engagement. Jackman is reportedly hoping to find a two-to-four week window to bring the evening to London in the coming months.
"We were just talking about it and poring over dates," Jackman said. The Broadway engagement, which featured an 18-piece orchestra and a chorus of dancers, followed limited runs in Toronto and San Francisco.
In Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway, the stage and screen star performed a personal selection of his favorite musical numbers that reflected on his life and career. Warren Carlyle (Follies, Chaplin, A Christmas Story) directed and choreographed.
Jackman is also currently involved in the new musical Houdini, which has a score by Academy Award winner and Tony nominee Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, "Pocahontas"). Tony-winning Hairspray and Coast of Utopia director Jack O'Brien will stage Houdini, which is aiming for a Broadway arrival during the 2014-15 season, following a Chicago try-out.
