News "Hunger Games" Director Gary Ross in Talks to Helm "Peter and the Starcatchers" Film "Hunger Games" director Gary Ross is in discussion to direct a film adaptation of Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson's 2004 Disney adventure novel "Peter and the Starcatchers," according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Jesse Wigutow ("It Runs in the Family") authored the screenplay for the film, which is a separate entity from the critically praised Broadway production, which dropped the "s" from its title and goes by Peter and the Starcatcher.

Peter and the Starcatcher was adapted for the stage by Tony Award winner Rick Elice (Jersey Boys, The Addams Family) and is directed by Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers and Tony winner Roger Rees (The Addams Family, Nicholas Nickleby). 

Peter and the Starcatcher opened to rave reviews April 15 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre following a 2011 extended Off-Broadway run at the New York Theatre Workshop. A U.S. national tour will launch in August 2013.

It received nine Tony Award nominations, and took home honors for Best Costume Design (Paloma H. Young), Best Lighting Design (Jeff Croiter), Best Sound Design (Darron L. West), Best Scenic Design (Donyale Werle) and Best Featured Actor (Christian Borle).
