Hunky Liberatore Gone With the Wynn

PlayBlog   Hunky Liberatore Gone With the Wynn
Lou Liberatore, Tony-nominated for Best Featured Hottie in a Play as the wisecracking homosexual roommate in the original 1987 Burn This, still has a perfectly presentable bod for his age division and presents it accordingly, cater-waitering a gay Republican fundraiser in Daniel Reitz’s Turnabout, a hilarious highlight in Ensemble Studio Theatre’s current marathon of one-act plays.

But Libertone is hip to the passage of time and wide open to the possibility of character roles. Come September, he heads for the Westport Country Playhouse, where he did That Championship Season, to play Mr. Dussel, the fussy old fuddy-duddy in The Diary of Anne Frank. Jack Gilford and Austin Pendleton played the part on Broadway, and Ed Wynn got an Oscar nomination for the movie version.
