News Hunter Ryan Herdlicka, Daniel Reichard, Melissa Van Der Schyff Set for Reading of Benjamin Button: A New Musical Casting has been announced for the one-night staged reading of Benjamin Button: A New Musical, which will be presented June 5 at Shetler Studios as part of Fundamental Theater Project's Mass Rhetoric: A New Works Festival.

The new musical features music by Natalie Tenenbaum and music and lyrics by Brett Boles. Stephen Nachamie directs.

The cast is led by Hunter Ryan Herdlicka as Contemporary Benjamin, Mark Willis Borum as James, James Donegan as Roy, Sena Lee as Suong, T.J. Mannix as Roger Button, Daniel Reichard as Past Benjamin and Melissa Van Der Schyff as Claire.

The ensemble comprises Heath Chaney, Mark DiConzo, Alysia Dorhout, Lauren Downie, Lindsay Gallagher, Isabel Nesti, Xalvador Tin-Bradbury and Chris Withers.

Benjamin Button is adapted from the short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." "Benjamin is born as an old man and grows younger as time passes," according to press notes. "The show focuses on Benjamin’s relationship with his father, his romantic relationship with Claire, and finally the tenuous relationship Benjamin has with his own son, James."

Doors and bar will open at 6 PM for the 7 PM performance.

The Festival also includes the following readings: June 3 (The Ghosts in Aisle 30 by Matthew Henderson), June 4 (Enter the Roar by Barbara Hammond), June 6 (C.O.A.L. (confessions of a liar) by David Brian Colbert) and June 7 (The Whale and the Dog Star by Ben Holbrook).
