News Hushion Named Artistic Director of North Carolina Theatre Casey Hushion will succeed William Jones as the new artistic director of Raleigh's North Carolina Theatre.

As previously reported, Jones exits his position as artistic director of the Raleigh venue to begin his tenure as the new president and executive director of Ft. Worth's Casa Mañana.

Hushion, who has served as the assistant director of The Drowsy Chaperone and In the Heights, will step into her new role in November.

"North Carolina Theatre is preserving the unique American art form of musical theatre, and I am excited to uphold their great tradition of artistic integrity," Hushion said in a statement.

Until Hushion's arrival, North Carolina Theatre managing director Lisa Grele Barrie will serve as the interim executive director of the company.

Hushion is no stranger to the professional Raleigh venue, having staged Chess, The Wizard of Oz, The King and I (starring Lou Diamond Phillips) and Jekyll and Hyde (starring Sebastian Bach) for North Carolina Theatre. In October she will direct Maury Yeston's Phantom for Raleigh audiences. In 2009 Hushion will serve as associate director for the new musical Minsky's, which will play Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre.
