As previously reported on Playbill.com, Avenue Q's Stephanie D'Abruzzo will be featured in the cast of the new musical, which is described as a modern day retelling of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice." The company will also include Farah Alvin, David A. Austin and Colin Hanlon. Directed by Daniel Kutner, I Love You Because will officially open Feb. 14.

I Love You Because features book and lyrics by Ryan Cunningham and music by Joshua Salzman. The musical, according to press notes, "follows Austin Bennet (Hanlon), a young greeting card writer whose life is turned upside down when he finds his long-term girlfriend in bed with another man. Forced back out into the treacherous New York dating scene, Austin meets Marcy Fitzwilliams (Alvin), a flighty photographer whose spontaneity is matched only by her ability to drive him insane." Song titles include "Another Saturday Night in New York," "The Actuary Song," "Maybe We Just Made Love," "We’re Just Friends" and "I Love You Because."

The show's creative team comprises Beowulf Boritt and Jo Winiarski (scenic design) and Jeff Croiter (lighting design).

The Village Theatre is located in Manhattan at 158 Bleecker Street, between Thompson and Sullivan Streets. Tickets for the production, priced $20-$65, will go on sale Nov. 28 by calling (212) 307-4100. For more information visit www.ILoveYouBecauseTheMusical.com.
