The Troika Production tour of The Sound of Music starring Barry Williams has signed a contract with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. IATSE will now “represent the road crew employed with the touring company” according to IATSE’s international president, Thomas C. Short.

IATSE carpenters, property persons, make-up and hair stylists and wardrobe talent are covered by the contract.

The IATSE representation came as a result of a filing with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) in New York. Following the NLRB filing, negotiations led to a Dec. 7 filing.

The Troika show has generated a great deal of press over the conflict between its star, Williams, and Actors Equity Association. Williams has elected for a reduced “financial core” status with the union rather than drop the Troika job while Equity seeks to unionize the production.
