News Idina Menzel Kicks Off Boston Pops' 125th Anniversary Season May 4 Tony Award winner Idina Menzel, recently seen on the hit TV series "Glee," helps the Boston Pops celebrate its 125th anniversary May 4.

Menzel is scheduled to be part of "Opening Night at Pops: 125th Pops Anniversary Celebration," which begins at 8 PM at Symphony Hall in Boston, MA. The evening also features guest artist Doc Severinsen with Michael Chertock on piano. Keith Lockhart will conduct the famed orchestra. Menzel will also join the Pops May 5-6.

Other highlights of the season: Acclaimed vocalist Maureen McGovern, most recently on Broadway in the musical version of Little Women, will be seen in "An Evening with Maureen McGovern" May 25-27 at 8 PM. Expect songs from her latest recording, "A Long and Winding Road."

Three-time Tony nominee Kelli O'Hara will join the Pops for "An Evening of Cole Porter" June 9-10 at 8 PM. Expect to hear such Porter classics as "I've Got You under My Skin," "In the Still of the Night," "Love for Sale," "Night and Day" and "Don't Fence Me In" as well as selections from Kiss Me, Kate.

The Boston Pops season will also include "Rodgers & Hammerstein at the Movies" June 15-16 at 8 PM. Concertgoers will enjoy remastered clips from famed R&H films accompanied by the original vocals and a live orchestra.

Idina Menzel won a Tony Award for Leading Actress in a Musical for her work as Elphaba in Wicked; she also opened the London production of that hit musical. Menzel created the role of Maureen in the original Broadway company of Rent, and her other theatrical credits include the City Center Encores! production of Hair, Manhattan Theatre Club's The Wild Party, the Public Theater's See What I Wanna See and the benefit Funny Girl concert. Menzel's film credits include "Ask the Dust," "Rent" and "Enchanted."
