News   Idiot's Peacock and Sheba's Hoeppner Complete Cast of Richardson's Veritas

Two actors complete the cast for the upcoming reading of Stan Richardson's Veritas, which will be presented May 25 at the LGBT Community Center in Manhattan to benefit Lambda Legal.

The final additions to the company are Chase Peacock (American Idiot) and Chad Hoeppner (Come Back Little Sheba, Butley).

Directed by Ryan J. Davis, the reading will also feature the previously announced Matt Doyle (Spring Awakening, Bye Bye Birdie), Tate Ellington (The Philanthropist), Eric Nelson (13), Mitch Dean (Altar Boyz), Blake Daniel (Spring Awakening), Matt Steiner (The Acting Company's Jane Eyre), Wayne Wilcox (Coram Boy) and Christian Coulson ("Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets"). Show time is 8 PM. The reading will include music by Rachel Peters adapted from the Harvard Song Book.

Inspired by true events, Veritas, according to press notes, is about "a group of young men at Harvard in 1920 whose promising futures fell prey to the Harvard Secret Court: a furtive gay witch-hunt conducted by the president and deans of the school to expurgate Harvard of all homosexuality."

The play will be fully produced as part of the 2010 New York International Fringe Festival in August.

Profits from the reading benefit Lambda Legal, the nation's oldest and largest legal organization working for the civil rights of lesbians, gay men and people with HIV/AIDS. Playwright Stan Richardson is also the author of The Tale of the Good Whistleblower of Chaillot's Caucasian Mother and Her Other Children of a Lesser Marriage Chalk Circle (with composer Rachel Peters), The Children (with composer Hal Goldberg), wHormone and All the World’s Problems.

LGBT Community Center (Room 301) is located at 208 West 13th Street, New York. Tickets are now on sale for $20-$50 by visiting www.brownpapertickets.com/event/111403. For more information go to www.veritastheplay.com.
