Classic Arts News Illness Reduces Zehetmair Quartet to Trio During Tour Violinist Matthias Metzger will miss the Zehetmair Quartet's upcoming tour of the United States, including a performance at Carnegie Hall on March 19, for health reasons.
As a result, the quartet will perform as a trio for all of its American performances.

The tour's program was to include string quartets by Grieg, Schumann, and Karl Amadeus Hartmann, as well as Schubert's Overture in C minor. Instead, the group will perform Schubert's Trio in B-flat major, Mozart's Trio in E-flat major, and Gideon Klein's String Trio.

The tour begins on March 12 in St. Cloud, Minnestota, and travels to Argonne, Illinois; St. Louis; and Costa Mesa, California before ending at Carnegie Hall. The group will also give a private performance for the Harvard Musical Association.

The Zehetmair Quartet was founded in 1994 by first violinist Thomas Zehetmair. It also includes violist Ruth Killius and cellist Rosie Biss.
