Imagining Shadows, Berilla Kerr Award winner Juliann France's new play, will end its world premiere March 11 at New York City's Ohio Theatre. Performances began Feb. 19. Jessica Bauman directs. The somewhat surreal story of Shadows is told through the eyes of a nine-year-old girl, who watches her Memphis farm family fall apart after the death of her mother. Family relationships strain when her father remarries and a mildly retarded uncle is forced into a nursing home. Shadows was a finalist for the Kennedy Center Playwrights Discovery Program.
Imagining Shadows stars Marilyn Alex, Lisa Anne Apatini, Frank Deal, Judith Granite, Garland Hunter and Alexandra Tatarsky.
Tickets are $12 with a special $25 benefit performance Feb. 24. To reserve, call (212) 620-0113. The Ohio Theatre is located at 66 Wooster Street.
New Georges was founded in 1992 to produce new theatre by women. Past productions have included Diana Son's Fishes, Elyse Singer's Love in the Void and Kate Moira Ryan's The Autobiography of Aiken Fiction.
