In Greensboro, Nativity Story Will Get an Appalachian Setting in Beautiful Star Premiere

News   In Greensboro, Nativity Story Will Get an Appalachian Setting in Beautiful Star Premiere Appalachian music will swaddle a world-premiere event at Triad Stage in Greensboro, NC, this holiday season when Beautiful Star: An Appalachian Nativity bows.

Written and directed by Triad artistic director Preston Lane, with original music by Laurelyn Dossett (of Polecat Creeek), Beautiful Star presents the Christmas story in an Appalachian setting. The work is developed by the same team that created last season's local hit Brother Wolf, which also boasted native folk-inspired music.

"Triad Stage's new holiday celebration is a musical and storytelling journey from the creation of the world to the birth of Jesus," according to Triad. "Inspired by the medieval miracle plays, Beautiful Star is a heartwarming and spiritual evening of theatre for the entire family."

Beautiful Star will run Dec. 3-23. Opening night is Dec. 7.

This is a special event separate from Triad's subscription season.
