Some Like It Hot, the Jule Styne-Bob Merrill-Peter Stone musical, begins performances Aug. 19 at Munster's Theatre at the Center. The show officially opens Aug. 21 for a run through Sept. 12. Larry Wyatt, a founding member of Bailiwick Repertory Theatre, directs.
Based on the 1959 Billy Wilder film of the same name, Some Like It Hot tells the cross-dressing comic tale of two sidemen who disguise themselves as members of an all-girls band after they witness the St. Valentine's Day massacre. Some Like It Hot originally played on Broadway as Sugar, opening at the Majestic Theatre April 9, 1972 with Robert Morse and Tony Roberts in the lead roles. Songs from the score include "Sun on My Face," "Sugar," "What Do You Give a Man Who's Had Everything?" and "When You Meet a Man in Chicago."
Some Like It Hot features Dale Benson (Osgood), Ed Kross (Jerry/Daphne), Kenneth Paul (Joe/Josephine), Katrina Lenk (Sugar Kane), Marc Robin (Spats), Felicia P. Fields (Sweet Sue) and James Harms (Bienstock). Also in the cast are Brian Karl Block, Jimmy Groh, Annie Hackett, Anthony Hite, Sal Ingurgio, Lauri Kraft, Jeremiah Lucas, Erika Mac, Angie K. Schoofs and Marty Vece.
Desiging the show are Scott Cooper (sets), Sherry Millbrath (costumes) and Joel Moritz (lights).
