On July 29 Shaun Taylor-Corbett, direct from the national tour of In the Heights, will join the cast as Sonny, replacing Jon Rua, who will step into the role of Graffiti Pete.

Beginning Aug. 16 Clifton Oliver (Wicked, The Lion King) will step into the role of Benny.

And, "American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks will make her Broadway debut as Nina Rosario beginning Aug. 19 (Sparks will play a limited 12-week engagement through Nov. 14, 2010). Also on Aug. 19, Kyle Beltran (10 Things To Do Before I Die at Second Stage) joins the cast as Usnavi after playing the role across the country in the national tour of In the Heights.

With a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes and conceived by composer-lyricist Lin-Manuel Miranda, In the Heights is directed by Thomas Kail.

In the Heights, according to the producers, "tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York's Washington Heights neighborhood — a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It's a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind."
