News Indian Blood Ends Off-Broadway Run at Primary Stages Sept. 2. Primary Stages' world premiere of A.R. Gurney's Indian Blood, which opened Off-Broadway Aug. 9 to warm reviews, will end its run on Sept. 2.

Rebecca Luker, John McMartin and Pamela Payton-Wright star in the Mark Lamos-directed season opener for the company. Performances began July 25 at 59E59 Theaters.

"It's a little memoir about a boy growing up rebellious in Buffalo right after World War II," director Lamos explained to Playbill.com columnist Harry Haun earlier this year. Buffalo is the setting for several Gurney works.

The playwright of Sylvia, Love Letters and previous Primary Stages presentation Strictly Academic pens a new tale of a young boy who "uses his Indian ancestry as a cause and an excuse for his adolescent attacks on the genteel world around him."

The complete cast features Matthew Arkin (Dinner with Friends), Jeremy Blackman (Beauty and the Beast), Jack Gilpin (The Elephant Man), Rebecca Luker (The Music Man, The Sound of Music), Katherine McGrath (A Man of No Importance), John McMartin (Follies, Into The Woods, Grey Gardens), Charles Socarides (Awake and Sing!) and Pamela Payton Wright (The Cherry Orchard, The Crucible).

Gurney has enjoyed Off-Broadway runs of his latest works Screen Play, O Jerusalem and Mrs. Farnsworth at the Flea Theatre. This season, Sigourney Weaver will star in the world premiere of his Crazy Mary at Playwrights Horizons. The scribe has also penned the plays Scenes from American Life, Children, The Dining Room, The Middle Ages, Sweet Sue, The Perfect Party, Another Antigone, The Cocktail Hour, The Old Boy, The Fourth Wall, Later Life, A Cheever Evening, Overtime, Let's Do It (a Cole Porter musical), Labor Day, Far East, Ancestral Voices and Buffalo Gal. Primary Stages 2006-2007 lineup will continue with the New York premieres of Kathleen Clark's Southern Comforts directed by Judith Ivey (Sept. 19-Oct. 29) and the new Peter Melnick-Christopher Durang musical Adrift in Macao directed by Sheryl Kaller and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli (Jan. 23-March 4, 2007). The new season will end with the world premiere of Terrence McNally's new play Deuce featuring Marian Seldes (March 20-April 29, 2007).

Tickets to Indian Blood at 59E59 Theaters, 59 East 59th Street (between Madison & Park) and subscription packages are available by calling (212) 279-4200. For more information about Primary Stages, visit the website at www.primarystages.com.
