Tony nominee Sahr Ngaujah, who originated the title role in Fela! Off-Broadway, Broadway and in the West End, plays the title role in Lynn Nottage’s Mlima’s Tale, the story of an elephant trapped inside the clandestine ivory market.

Ngaujah plays the role of the elephant and is joined by Junk's Ito Aghayere as Player 3, Jojo Gonzalez (Small Mouth Sounds) as Player 2, and Kevin Mambo (The Fortress of Solitude) as Player 1.

Obie Award winner Jo Bonney directs the world premiere at the Public Theater Off-Broadway. Previews will begin March 27 ahead of an April 15 opening night. The limited engagement is scheduled through May 20 in The Public’s Martinson Hall.
