Long Beach, CA's International City Theatre continues its 1999 season with Lyle Kessler's dark comedy Orphans, directed by Elina deSantos. It opens July 30 in ICT's 99-seat venue on the campus of Long Beach City College. Following the season's final show, ICT will present all its upcoming plays in the Center Theatre in downtown Long Beach.
Orphans deals with two young brothers whose lives are irrevocably changed when a stranger kidnapped by one of them turns out to be a mobster who eventually takes over the household -- becoming, in effect, their father.
The film version of Orphans was directed by Alan J. Pakula and starred Albert Finney, Mathew Modine and Kevin Anderson. ICT's cast includes Pedro Balmaceda, Joshue Hutchinson and Barry Lynch.
ICT is located at Clark St. and Harvey Way in Long Beach. For reservations and information call (562) 938-4128.
