News International Festival of Musical Theatre Set for Cardiff

Musical Theatre is to get its own International Festival, and where better than Cardiff, the capital of the land of song?

The Festival runs from Oct. 13 to Nov. 7. Following an opening gala night at the New Theatre on Oct. 13 — at which stars including Claire Sweeney, Ruthie henshall, Anita Dobson and Gary Wilmot will take part — the Festival will take place in several venues in and around the city.

Among the highlights will be a school edition of Les Misérables, Greenwich Theatre's production of Sadly Solo Joe starring Clive Rowe, Waltz of My Heart — a tribute to Cardiff-born composer Ivor Novello — and two Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals: Oklahoma! and Carousel.
