The European/international tour of the classic Arthur Laurents-Stephen Sondheim-Leonard Bernstein musical West Side Story officially opens June 16 in Lyon, France.

The production is directed and choreographed by Joey McKneely, who reproduced the original Jerome Robbins choreography for the current revival of West Side Story at the Palace Theatre. McKneely is a two-time Tony nominee for his choreography for Smokey Joe's Cafe and The Life.

The tour is currently scheduled to play stops in Spain, Japan, Israel, Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland.

The West Side Story cast is headed by Scott Sussman and Chad Hilligus, who alternate in the role of Tony; Kendall Kelly and Ali Ewoldt, who share the role of Maria; Oneika Phillips as Anita; Michael D. Jablonski as Riff; and Emmanuel De Jesus Silva as Bernardo with Anthony Patellis as Lt. Schrank, Stuart Dowling as Glad Hand, Steven Brady as Doc and Christopher Van Vleet as Krupke.

The Jets comprise Tim McGarrigal as Action, Matthew Powell as A-rab, Anthony Napoletano as Baby John, Travis Waldschmidt as Snowboy, Ryan Ghysels as Big Deal, Alex Michael Stoll as Diesel, Justin Wirick as Gee-Tar, Edward Lawrence as Tiger, Beth Crandall as Anybodys, Karolina Blonski as Graziella, Jessica Vaccaro as Velma, Skye Mattox, Kelsey Buchanan and Jacquelyn Scafidi.

The Sharks include Antonio Jimenez as Chino, Marc Spaulding, Josh Schulties, Giovanni Perez, Dean De Luna, Brett Emmons, Mashawn Morton, Maya Flock as Roasalia, Karilyn Suratt as Consuela, Arian Keddell, Nicole Hellman, Alexandra Redellico and Bianca Crawl-Seminara. The creative team also includes musical director Donald Chan, stage manager Dwan Attwood and assistant stage manager Tracy Pecina.

West Side Story has music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Arthur Laurents. Jerome Robbins choreographed and directed the original production.

The current New York revival, which opened March 19 at the Palace, boasts direction by Tony winner Laurents. (The European/international tour is not affiliated with the current Broadway production.)
