News Into the Woods' John McMartin Kicks Off Irish Rep Concert Series Oct. 7 Off-Broadway's Irish Repertory Theatre is not only interested in spreading knowledge of Irish work through New York City, but also the great music of Europe and the United States. In a new series, entitled the Christina Prince World Music Concert Series, the Rep will host such luminaries as Into the Woods' 2002 Tony Award nominee John McMartin for evenings of 20th Century classical music played by violinist Prince.

Off-Broadway's Irish Repertory Theatre is not only interested in spreading knowledge of Irish work through New York City, but also the great music of Europe and the United States. In a new series, entitled the Christina Prince World Music Concert Series, the Rep will host such luminaries as Into the Woods' 2002 Tony Award nominee John McMartin for evenings of 20th Century classical music played by violinist Prince. On Oct. 7, McMartin will narrate an evening of early 20th Century Scandinavian composers. Included with the music will be performances from the works of Swedish playwright August Strindberg (Dance of Death, Miss Julie).

Also planned are a Nov. 11 look at violin virtuoso Fritz Kreisler, a Feb. 10 concert of works by Nazi escapee and Hollywood composer Erich Wolfgang Korngold and an exploration of the Basque roots in Maurice Ravel's works, to be held April 7.
