News InViolet Repertory Theater Company Presents Free Play Readings May 19-20 The InViolet Repertory Theater Company presents free readings of two original one-act plays, Melanie Angelina's Consumption and Megan Hart's See Jane Talk, May 19-20.

The 7 PM readings will be held at the Kraine Theater in Manhattan. Stephen Adly Guirgis directs Consumption, and The Public Theater's Director of Special Projects, Maria Goyanes, stages See Jane Talk.

Consumption, according to press notes, is "about how in the beginning of a relationship, a person will always tell you exactly who they are, if only you will listen. It examines how we force people into roles they are often unwilling or incapable of playing, rather than looking at the truth, as we try to deal with one of humanity's most universal fears: that of being alone."

The Consumption cast features Marc Menchaca, Rodrigo Lopresti, Francis Benhamou and Megan Hart.

See Jane Talk is described as "a play that examines the values and trappings of therapy, and at the same time explores the playwright's feelings about 'how absurd and rich that experience can be.'"

Melanie Angelina Maras and Sara Van Beckum perform See Jane Talk. The Kraine Theater is located at 85 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery. For reservations email [email protected].
