News Irish TV Star Des Bishop Brings Solo Show Made In China Off-Broadway Irish-American comedian and TV personality Des Bishop is set to return to his native New York with his acclaimed solo show, Made in China, which will play a limited engagement at the Barrow Street Theatre.

Made in China, which offers a hilarious and insightful look at Chinese culture "from the inside," was performed in front of sold-out audiences at the 2014 Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it received rave reviews. Performances Off-Broadway will run March 9-29.

In the show, Bishop recounts his real-life journey to China to learn mandarin and perform stand-up comedy infront of a Chinese audience. According to press notes, "In just eight months in 2013 not only did he succeed in learning a ridiculously tricky tongue, he landed a hosting job at a busy restaurant, started a comedy club, then looked for love in a Beijing trade fair for spouses before finding himself on a television dating show seen by over 40 million viewers."

Bishop's adventures were captured by Irish broadcaster RTE which aired the six-part reality series "Breaking China," starring the comedian.

Des Bishop is a performer who has featured regularly on Irish television in shows such as "Joy in the Hood" and the award-winning "In the Name of Fada."
