News Is a Rock Opera of "Fight Club," Developed by Julie Taymor, in the Works? Chuck Palahniuk, author of the 1996 novel "Fight Club," which was later turned into a feature film starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton, teased that the property may be headed for the stage with Tony Award winner Julie Taymor at the helm.

According to JoBlo.com, Palahniuk revealed that a rock opera of "Fight Club" was in development at Dark Horse's San Diego Comic-Con panel for the "Fight Club 2" comic.

Palahniuk then tweeted that David Fincher, who adapted the novel into the 1999 film, will develop the project with Taymor (The Lion King, Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark).

 

"Fight Club" follows the experiences of an unnamed protagonist struggling with insomnia who forms a "fight club" for men who want to fight recreationally. The film, also starring Helena Bonham Carter, developed a cult following.
