Becky Mode may have crafted the most famous play about a restaurant ever; certainly Fully Committed is the most memorable in recent years. The one-man comedy is still running in New York City and Los Angeles, has gone on tour, visiting Boston and Washington, DC, and begins a new company, starring Bronson Pinchot, in Chicago this week.

So, it's only right that Mode, as Fully Committed's scribe, be asked to take part in the New York Public Library's "Food Fetishes" series at the main branch. Mode, along with restaurateur Jean-Claude Baker, will speak on "Dinner Theater" with moderator Dawn Davis March 27 at 6 PM.

Mode crafted Fully Committed for actor Mark Setlock, whose real life experiences as an out-of-work actor desperately trying to find tables at a trendy Manhattan restaurant were the basis for her play. Other credits include writing for TV's "Cosby," HBO, Nickelodeon and Disney.

The owner of Chez Josephine on Theatre Row, Baker is also the adopted son of dancer and celebrity Josephine Baker and the co-author of her biography, "Josephine: The Hungry Heart." Moderator Davis wrote the book "If You Can't Stand the Heat: Tales from Chefs and Restaurateurs."

Tickets are $10. The New York Public Library's main branch is located at 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue. For reservations, call (212) 930-0855. The New York Public Library is on the web at http://www.nypl.org. — By Christine Ehren
