The "Designing Women" star told the New York Post, "I'm going to be [in New York] the first week in December to do a reading of The Man Who Came to Dinner to celebrate the anniversary of the Roundabout Theater. I can't wait to see [my former co-star] Nathan Lane.

"And I may come back to do a play on Broadway in the spring. It's a mean little comedy, with four actors. I've done a reading of the play a few times."

Smart was joined by Beau Bridges, Michael McKean and Cecily Strong for a one-night-only reading of The Glint, a new play by Matt Hoverman, April 22, 2013, at Broadway's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Directed by Michael Mastro, The Glint was described as "a mean little comedy about folks in their 60s with the hearts (and maturity) of teenagers."

Smart was Tony-nominated for her work opposite Lane in the 2000 revival of The Man Who Came to Dinner. She was also seen on Broadway in Piaf.
