Barbara Isenberg's new book on the making of the Broadway musical Big: "Making it Big: The Diary of a Broadway Musical" will be published by Limelight Editions in November.
The book chronicles the making of the $10 million musical from idea to reality, from auditions to the present day including the Tony flap, reviews, and box office problems. Isenberg had rare access along the way, starting with the auditions in the spring of 1995, continuing on to opening night in Detroit and then to Broadway.
She sat in on creative,. financial, and marketing decision meetings. Her journal chronicles the whys and the hows of making the musical as well as exploring the costs: both emotional and financial.
The illustrated "Making it Big: The Diary of a Broadway Musical" is scheduled to be available in stores in November, 1996.
