Classic Arts News   iTunes Offers Yo-Yo Ma-John Williams Collaboration

A duo recording by cellist Yo-Yo Ma and pianist-composer John Williams of Williams' music for the film Memoirs of a Geisha will be offered exclusively through Apple's iTunes music store, Sony BMG announced.

Ma was one of the soloists on the Geisha soundtrack, performing alongside violinist Itzhak Perlman. Recently, he and Williams performed an excerpt of the music together on NBC's Tonight Show.

The three-track Live Session EP includes arrangements of "Sayuri's Theme," "A Dream Discarded," and "Going to School." Listeners who buy all three tracks will also receive a ten-minute interview with Ma and Williams.

The Memoirs of a Geisha soundtrack is currently at number four on the Billboard classical-crossover chart, and was nominated for an Academy Award.
