News Ivy Crest Theatre Co. Launches Today The company’s inaugural production, two plays by Edward Allan Baker, begins today.

New Off-Broadway theatre company, Ivy Crest Theatre Co., launches March 16 with its inaugural production, two one act plays by Edward Allan Baker: Up, Down, Strange, Charmed, Beauty, and Truth, directed by Erica Silberman and North of Providence, directed by David Newer.

Performances will run at the Davenport Theatre through March 20. The casts includes David Newer, Lacy Marie Meyer, Kelly Kozakevich, Lauren Duffy and James McCloskey.

The New York-based organization is focused “on plays that represent the diversity of NYC and subjects reflecting blue collar and white collar issues.” In Up, Down…, two teenage girls try to convince a family member to help them escape their abusive mother. In North Providence, a brother and sister face their troubled past. Both plays were first presented as part of Ensemble Studio Theatre’s Marathon series where they garnered favorable reviews.
