The Broadway production of Les Miserables will have a new Jean Valjean come March 7, when J. Mark McVey joins the cast. He will play alongside the current Javert, Gregg Edelman, and Fantine, Jane Bodle.

McVey is well versed in the role of the noble, downtrodden Valjean -- he essayed the role in London and in the American national company, as well as in a previous stint on Broadway beginning in 1991.

Broadway's Les Miz will reach its 13th anniversary a few days after McVey arrives, on March 12. On that day, the Boublil-Schonberg will play its 5,351st performance.
