Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, the prominent summer series in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, opens its season tonight with a gala performance featuring tap dancer Savion Glover, with the Ben Munisteri Dance Projects, and dancers from the Ballet Program of the School at Jacob's Pillow performing a world-premiere work by choreographer Margot Sappington.

Other festival highlights include the world premiere of Blueprint of a Lady, a work inspired by jazz legend Billie Holiday and performed by Ronald K. Brown/Evidence with vocalist Nnenna Freelon, and performances by the Martha Graham Dance Company, Ronald K. Brown/Evidence, Garth Fagan Dance, and the Mark Morris Dance Company.

Also on the schedule are Australia's Chunky Move, Rennie Harris Puremovement, Alonzo King's LINES Ballet, Ben Munisteri Dance Projects, Mexico City's A Poc A Poc, Aszure Barton's ASzURe & Artists, Stockholm/59ԍ, Susan Marshall & Company, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, the Trey McIntyre Project, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montr_al, Johannes Wieland, Black Grace, and Project Fukurow.
