News James Barbour Gets Second Concert Date at Florida's Asolo Theater in Early 2008 Sarasota audiences are crazy about James Barbour. The star of Asolo Repertory Theater's A Tale of Two Cities earlier this fall was booked to sing a Jan. 14, 2008, concert there, and it promptly sold out.

A second date has been added for 8 PM Jan. 13. Both shows benefit the not-for-profit Asolo.

Barbour told Playbill.com that the concert will include "If I Loved You," "Molasses to Rum," "What You'd Call a Dream," "This Is the Moment," "If Ever I Would Leave You," "Full Circle," "I Can't Recall" from A Tale of Two Cities and more.

"The concert is just me with Michael Lavine accompanying me on piano," Barbour said. "Proceeds go to the Asolo; we had a great time down there with Tale and their program is just wonderful."

What's the angle of the concert? "The evening will basically be a look back on the shows that I've done and how they came into my life," he explained. "But hopefully the message will be universal."

Asolo Repertory Theater, in conjunction with commercial producers, staged the world premiere of the Broadway-aimed musical A Tale of Two Cities. Barbour's Broadway credits include Beauty and the Beast, Jane Eyre and Assassins. He recently toured as Lancelot in a revised revival of Camelot.

In Jill Santoriello's A Tale of Two Cities, he played the selfless Sydney Carton.

"If you could not get ticket to the sold out run of A Tale of Two Cities, this is your chance to experience James Barbour's incredible voice in concert," according to Asolo.

A lobby reception with James Barbour will follow. Ticket prices are $85 (orchestra and front mezzanine), $65 (rear mezzanine) and $45 (balcony).
