Haskins, who has been executive director of the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia since 2003, will replace current managing director Lynn Landis beginning with the 2006-2007 season.
"We are delighted that Jamie will be our new managing director," said Wilma board chair Peggy Greenawalt. "We recognize him as a leader in the Philadelphia theatre community and consider ourselves fortunate to have attracted such a talent."
"Jamie is an experienced theatre manager with an exceptional track record of vision, wisdom and, most of all, love for live theatre," stated Jiri Zizka, co-artistic director. "He has achieved great recognition and visibility in the Philadelphia community. Both Blanka [Zizka] and I are thrilled that he has decided to join our team. We are looking forward to collaborating with him on shaping the future of The Wilma Theater."
Haskins began his work in theatre administration as box office manager of Circle Repertory Company and went on to work with National Shakespeare Company, Symphony Space, Provincetown Playhouse, Actor's Playhouse, Triplex Performing Arts Center and Astor Place Theatre. Upon moving to Seattle in 1991, he served as business manager of Seattle Group Theatre and worked intermittently for Ticket/Ticket, Seattle's only day-of-show, half-price ticket booth. In 1999, he moved to Philadelphia and worked as managing director of InterAct Theatre Company, while also serving for three years on the board of the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia as chair of the Barrymore Awards Oversight Committee. He moved into the executive director position of the Theatre Alliance in May 2003.
Also an actor and director, Haskins holds a BA from the College of Wooster in Ohio, and an MFA from the University of Washington.
