James Naughton's career as a crooner continues to move along briskly. The man behind James Naughton: Street of Dreams , the successful solo songfest currently playing at the Promenade Theatre, will take his act south April 10, when he performs at a black-tie gala at Baltimore's Center Stage.
The evening, which will benefit the theatre's Annual Fund, will feature a 60-minute set by Naughton. Dinner, dancing and a silent auction will follow. Call (410) 685-3200, ext. 434, for information.
Street of Dreams is set to end its extended run April 11. Backed by a five-piece band directed by John Oddo, the 20-song gig features such standards as "Pennies from Heaven," "Stardust," "Lush Life," "I've Been Everywhere," "Glowworm," "My Life Is Good" and "Are You Lonesome Tonight?"
Presenting the piece will be one of the theatre's most esteemed directors, Mike Nichols. Naughton's stage credits include Four Baboons Adoring the Sun, Chicago and City of Angels.
