News Jane Powell to Host Screening of Movie Musical "Seven Brides," July 6 Jane Powell, one of the last surviving stars from the golden era of Hollywood movie musicals, will introduce a screening of her film "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" at the Community Theatre in Fairfield, Connecticut, at 7 PM July 6.

Powell will then participate in a discussion of the film, led by Turner Classic Movies host Robert Osborne. "Seven Brides" is perhaps Powell's best known movie. She also starred in "Hit the Deck" with Ann Miller and "Royal Wedding" with Fred Astaire. Her stage roles include Oklahoma!, My Fair Lady, The Girl Next Door and How She Grew, After-Play, Avow and the recent Chicago and Washington, D.C., stagings of the Stephen Sondheim-John Weidman musical Bounce. Powell's co-stars in "Brides" included Howard Keel and Russ Tamblyn.
