Before Jason Robert Brown's latest musical, The Last Five Years, makes its world premiere at Chicago's Northlight Theatre this spring, New Yorkers will have a chance to get a sneak peek at the new score April 28 at the Cooper Union Great Hall.
Brown's latest, described by the Northlight as a "romantic musical about a nice Jewish boy and a good Irish Catholic girl in New York City who fall in love and fall apart during a five-year courtship," premieres in Chicago May 16-June 24 at a theatre where he once served as musical director. Daisy Prince will direct.
Along with The Last Five Years, Brown will also sing selections from his original revue Songs for a New World, the Tony Award winner Parade and his Michael Milken musical, Moneyman.
Tickets are $15. The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science & Art is located at East 7th Street at Third Avenue. For reservations, call (212) 279-4200. The Cooper Union is on the web at http://www.cooper.edu/cooperarts.
