News Jay Records Records Live Performances of Donna McKechnie's New Act, Same Place: Another Time, in London Two performances of Tony Award winner Donna McKechnie's new concert act, Same Place: Another Time, are being recorded live in a London recording studio for subsequent release on the Jay Records label.

The concerts are being held at London's Angel Studios Sept. 18 at 6:30 PM and Sept. 19 at 3:30 PM.

"Donna McKechnie will be performing her cabaret complete (as for real in a cabaret performance) in the studios and we will be recording it all," Jay Records president John Yap previously told Playbill.com. "The idea is to record and capture the live performance under controlled studio conditions for a great sounding recording."

A limited number of seats were offered free of charge to those interested.

McKechnie premiered Same Place: Another Time this past January at 54 Below. Her new show, according to press notes, offers "a musical déjà vu celebrating the scintillating '70s in New York City — the heyday of Studio 54." Attendees can expect to hear the music of Jim Croce, Peter Allen, Marvin Hamlisch, Billy Strayhorn and Stephen Sondheim, with arrangements and music direction by John McDaniel.

Best known for her Tony-winning performance as Cassie in the original production of A Chorus Line, Donna McKechnie has appeared in a plethora of musicals both on and Off-Broadway, some of which include How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Company, State Fair, Can-Can, Annie Get Your Gun, I'm Getting My Act Together and Taking It On the Road, State Fair and Promises, Promises. In her first full length, one-woman musical celebration, Inside the Music, McKechnie performed songs from several of these productions and offered personal anecdotes about her experiences with some of the theatre's finest actors, directors, producers and writers. A live recording of that act was released on the Fynsworth Alley label. Simon & Schuster published McKechnie's autobiography, "Time Steps: My Musical Comedy Life."
